Our History
Ray Smith “Smitty” founded Smitty’s coffee in 1987. Smitty’s started as a family run Coffee Truck
business which ventured into vending machines and office/workplace coffee service. Smitty was also a
local musician at the time and as many would say was quite the story teller a character in his own right.
Smitty believed in a sense of Community and was always glad to help out any way he could.
As the years went by and Smitty readied himself for retirement he sold off sections of his business. In
2001, his son in law, Mike MacLellan took over the Office Coffee Service portion of the business. While
continuing Smitty’s Community Involvement, Smitty’s now focuses entirely on Workplace Coffee
Solutions.
Our Founder
Mike MacLellan was raised in Guelph from the age of 5. Being from an athletic family he played a variety
of sports on local teams through the years. In 1988, he graduated from the Materials Management Business Program at Conestoga College.
Mike held various Supply Chain positions for a variety of companies for 25 years before taking over Smitty’s Coffee. Mike has stayed in this area because he
believes Guelph is one the best cities to live in. He is dedicated to bringing his customers the freshest
product with reliable and friendly service.
